SASKATOON, SK — Saskatchewan Blue Cross, a not-for-profit provider of health and wellness solutions, has proudly announced a generous $25,000 donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Saskatchewan. This contribution will directly support the 2025 Provincial Mental Health Conference in May 2025 and further assist in mental wellness programs aimed at Newcomers to Saskatchewan.

Kelly Wilson, President and CEO of Saskatchewan Blue Cross, expressed excitement over the donation, stating, “Our vision is to see a future of lifelong health and well-being for every person in Saskatchewan, including our Newcomers. We understand that mental health plays an essential role in achieving this, which is why we’re so proud to invest in CMHA Saskatchewan’s initiatives.”

Supporting Newcomers’ Mental Wellness

Mental health challenges among immigrants and refugees have been a significant concern in Saskatchewan. According to research from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, newly arrived immigrants often experience a decline in mental health the longer they stay in Canada. To combat this issue, CMHA Saskatchewan has developed targeted mental wellness programs designed to support Newcomers, adjusting the content to meet the unique needs of different cultures, languages, and life experiences.

Trevor Gates, Executive Director of CMHA Saskatchewan, highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying, “Immigration is not just a physical journey; it’s an emotional and mental one too. The stress of adapting to new environments can be overwhelming, but resilience and community support can help rebuild a sense of belonging and hope. CMHA SK Division is grateful for our partnership with Saskatchewan Blue Cross as we work together to build strong, inclusive communities.”

A Commitment to Community Well-being

The CMHA Saskatchewan 2025 Provincial Mental Health Conference will be a central platform for advancing mental health care across the province. This event brings together experts, innovators, and community members to share strategies and insights aimed at improving mental health support and care.

Saskatchewan Blue Cross has been a long-standing sponsor of this annual conference, underscoring its commitment to mental wellness. The $25,000 donation marks a continued investment in initiatives that support mental health awareness, education, and community-building throughout Saskatchewan.

“We are proud to team up with CMHA Saskatchewan as their Title Sponsor for this important conference,” Wilson added. “We believe in the power of mental health education, support, and collaboration, and we are honoured to support such an impactful event.”

Looking Ahead

The donation from Saskatchewan Blue Cross underscores the company’s dedication to improving mental wellness and supporting vulnerable populations, especially those who may face additional challenges, such as immigrants and refugees. By partnering with CMHA Saskatchewan, the company is helping to address the mental health needs of these groups, ultimately fostering inclusive, resilient communities across the province.

This collaboration is an important step toward ensuring that all Saskatchewan residents, regardless of their background, have access to the tools and resources they need to maintain their mental health and well-being.
