The Rotary Club of Fishers is gearing up for its fifth annual Charity Golf Outing, set to take place on Monday, June 30, at Hawthorns Country Club, located at 12255 Club Point Drive, Fishers. This event plays a crucial role in supporting Project Hope, a mental health initiative aimed at helping local youth.
Mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and disorders related to eating, substance abuse, and psychotic conditions are common among teenagers. These issues can significantly affect relationships, physical health, and academic performance, making access to support services essential for young people.
“We’re excited to partner with the Fishers Rotary Club to close out Spark!Fishers with the Charity Golf Outing benefiting Project Hope,” said Marissa Deckert, Director of Fishers Parks & Recreation. “This initiative plays a vital role in ensuring all students – regardless of insurance status – have access to mental health services. It’s a powerful reflection of our shared commitment to a culture of health and community support here in Fishers.”
Over the past four years, the golf outing has successfully raised $85,000 for the cause, with this year’s fundraising goal set at $40,000. The event has historically been a sold-out occasion, drawing 128 golfers. Alongside the golfing action, attendees can enjoy a silent auction and compete for prizes such as best team score, closest to the pin, longest drive, hole-in-one (with the chance to win a car), and longest putt.
“The Fishers Rotary Charity Golf Outing is a lifeline for students in need,” said Molly Kirwan, HSE Schools Mental Health Coordinator. “Proceeds from this event support a scholarship that ensures uninsured and under-insured students can access vital school-based mental health services. For many families, the choice between ongoing therapeutic support and basic needs is a painful one – and this fund helps remove that barrier. Project Hope is grateful to Fishers Rotary for its continuing support.”
This event not only offers a day of fun and friendly competition but also serves as a crucial fundraiser to provide much-needed mental health services to local students, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive.
