ROCHESTER, N.Y. — April 11, 2025 — In a move to bolster student mental health support, the University of Rochester has announced a new partnership with the creators of Sol, a mental health and wellness app designed to address the emotional and psychological challenges faced by students today.

The announcement was made during the University’s Flourish Festival, a campus-wide event dedicated to promoting mental, spiritual, and physical well-being.

Speaking at the event, Nazar Yasin, co-founder of Sol, emphasized the rising need for accessible mental health tools among university students.

“Approximately 60% of students today are experiencing severe anxiety, overwhelming loneliness, and even suicidal thoughts,” said Yasin. “There is a massive need for a mental, emotional, and spiritual support tool that helps students live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilled version of their life. That’s exactly what Sol was built to accomplish.”

Free Premium Access for Students and Faculty

As part of the partnership, students, faculty, and staff at the University of Rochester will receive complimentary access to the premium version of the Sol app. The app offers guided mental wellness exercises, meditations, emotional journaling, and tools for stress management—all designed to support users in their daily lives.

The collaboration aligns with the University’s broader efforts to strengthen campus-wide mental health resources and normalize conversations around emotional well-being.

University officials expressed optimism that the app will serve as a valuable extension of on-campus counseling and wellness services, offering students greater flexibility and privacy in managing their mental health needs.

The partnership with Sol is one of several recent initiatives aimed at expanding the university’s approach to holistic student care—recognizing the increasing demand for modern, tech-forward mental health solutions.
