Kennedy Middle School Receives $10,000 to Support Annual Mental Health Fair

EL CENTRO – Kennedy Middle School in El Centro has been awarded $10,000 from Imperial County Behavioral Health to help fund the school’s upcoming Mini Mental Health Fair.

The funds were presented by Behavioral Health staff during a special school assembly, highlighting the importance of mental health awareness. The fair, organized by the school’s leadership students and advisors, including Social Worker Helen McClain and ASB Advisor Alyssa Valdez, is a significant annual event on campus.

Scheduled for April 17th, this will be the fourth annual Mini Mental Health Fair at Kennedy Middle School. During the event, student leaders will address various mental health topics, such as the importance of mental health, understanding anxiety, differentiating between sadness and depression, coping skills, the impact of social media on mental health, emotional intelligence, stress management, and the importance of taking breaks. The fair will also include information on suicide awareness and the dynamics of healthy versus unhealthy relationships.

This event is part of Kennedy Middle School’s ongoing efforts to promote mental health education and support for students.
