The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) is set to host a Mental Health Symposium on Friday, March 7, welcoming participants from colleges across New York and surrounding states. The event will take place at ESF’s Gateway Center and aims to provide a valuable platform for mental health professionals and advocates to share insights, explore solutions to the mental health challenges facing college students, and focus on their well-being and self-care.
Reducing Stigma and Building Supportive Communities
The symposium will feature a range of speakers, panels, and workshops, offering participants a wealth of knowledge on college mental health. Event organizers are working to create a space for open dialogue and collaboration, with the overarching goal of reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and building more supportive communities on college campuses.
Erica Allen, the Director of Counseling at ESF, shared, “Ultimately, our goal is to reduce the stigma around mental health and build more supportive communities. We hope to foster a supportive environment where staff can learn, share, and practice self-care, ultimately contributing to the well-being of our college communities.”
