Purdue University is gearing up for Mental Health Action Week, which will take place from March 3 to 7. This initiative aims to promote well-being among students, providing a platform for raising awareness and offering resources related to mental health. The week will feature a series of events across Purdue’s West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses, designed to engage students in conversations and activities centered around mental health and self-care.
Kickoff Events to Set the Tone
The week will begin with a series of kickoff events on March 3 that will introduce the theme of the week and offer fun, engaging activities to start off the celebration.
West Lafayette Campus Graduate Student Kickoff: The West Lafayette campus will host a graduate student breakfast at the Purdue Graduate Student Center from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.. This event offers a chance for students to connect over breakfast and discuss mental health in a relaxed, informal setting.
Purdue Student Government Kickoff: The Purdue Student Government will host a kickoff at Memorial Mall from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students will enjoy activities like inflatables, a food truck, and various other activities designed to set a positive tone for the week ahead.
Indianapolis Campus Kickoff: For the Indianapolis campus, the kickoff event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Boiler Park, with an indoor location in the ET Atrium if rain interrupts the outdoor festivities. The event will include a food truck, a self-care bar, games, and more for students to enjoy while learning about available resources.
Events to Promote Well-Being
The celebration will continue with more events throughout the week, offering a mix of fun, relaxation, and mental health resources.
Well-Being Wednesday (March 5): The West Lafayette campus will host a Well-Being Wednesday event at Memorial Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students can enjoy Tom’s Coffee, food, games, and photo opportunities, while also exploring available campus resources. In case of bad weather, the event will be relocated to the CoRec.
CoRec Feature Gym Event (March 6): Another event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the CoRec Feature Gym on the West Lafayette campus. This event will feature food, entertainment, and an opportunity to connect with campus organizations and mental health resources.
Stress Less Event (March 6): The Business Office for Student Organizations and the Student Activities and Organizations Office will host a Stress Less event from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Room 370 of the Krach Leadership Center. Students will have a chance to unwind with snacks, prizes, and the opportunity to speak to faculty members about managing stress and mental well-being.
