CHESTERMERE — Ryan Straschnitzki, a survivor of the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash, will headline an upcoming mental health fair in Chestermere, sharing his powerful story of resilience and overcoming adversity.
Straschnitzki, who was left paralyzed from the chest down following the crash that claimed the lives of 16 players, will be the special guest at the event. It will take place at the Chestermere Recreation Centre on Saturday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Since the tragedy, Straschnitzki has become a motivational speaker, focusing on themes such as mental and physical toughness, adaptive sports, and the importance of kindness and positivity. He is also the founder of the Straz Strong Foundation, which aims to inspire change and raise awareness about the challenges faced by those living with disabilities.
In a statement on his website, Straschnitzki shared, “I will speak on motivation, inspiration, and my journey of rehabilitation. I’ll also highlight the struggles of living with a disability, from accessibility issues to the lack of funding for therapy and medical supplies, and how people can make a difference through the Straz Strong Foundation.”
The event will be hosted at MPP Hall, offering the community a chance to hear firsthand about Straschnitzki’s experiences and the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities.
