MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), in partnership with the Student Government Association, will host the third annual student panel on mental health on February 26.

The event, titled “Stand Together, Heal Together – A Conversation on Building a Compassionate Community,” will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Olmsted Building auditorium, room C213.

Open to students, faculty, and staff, the panel will focus on “the bystander effect” and its impact on mental health. Panelists will discuss why individuals sometimes hesitate to act in critical moments, the consequences of inaction, and how bystanders can make a meaningful difference in such situations.

The student-led discussion will explore what it means to cultivate a compassionate, engaged campus community around mental health, and will highlight available mental health resources for students.

Students who attend the event can earn first-year seminar credit. Additionally, students are reminded of the free and confidential counseling services available through CAPS.
