Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has secured a generous $25 million donation from philanthropists Gene and Mindy Stein to fund a pioneering pediatric mental health program. The gift, made through their Tikun Olam Foundation, will establish the Stein Tikun Olam Early Connections Program, which aims to support young children facing complex medical conditions by addressing their mental health needs.
The program will focus on providing trauma-informed, culturally sensitive mental health screenings and treatment for infants and toddlers receiving specialty medical care at the hospital. This initiative is designed to ensure that young patients and their families receive the critical mental health support they need, particularly for those navigating the challenges of serious illness and medical procedures.
In addition to the significant contribution to Children’s Hospital, other institutions have also benefitted from philanthropic generosity. The ArtCenter College of Design received a $17 million bequest from a long-time donor, and several universities, alongside the educational group Building African American Minds, have also received substantial gifts, further underscoring a growing commitment to supporting education and health.
